8-important-things-you-need-to-do-after-your-wedding

The big day has been and gone, but don’t worry – the wedding fun isn’t over just yet! There are a few key things (both practical and sentimental) you’ll want to action after your wedding before you jet off to that tropical honeymoon.

Send Thank You Notes

Remember, your friends and family may have travelled or made special arrangements to celebrate with you, along with contributing to your wishing well or presenting you with a gift. So be sure to share your appreciation with a heartfelt thank you note after the day!

It might seem like a time-consuming task, but your thank you notes don’t have to be extravagant. A simple message such as “Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for sharing in our special day. We are so grateful for your presence, warm wishes and generous gift. We can’t wait to share many more memories with you!” is perfectly sweet and sincere.

Our tip? Don’t procrastinate on this one! Aim to send your thank you notes within 3 months while your memory (and motivation!) is fresh.

Clean Your Wedding Attire

Maintain the condition of your wedding attire by having your dress and suit professionally cleaned as soon as possible after the day. The longer you wait, the more stubborn any marks or stains will become, so get this one actioned ASAP! Once your attire has been cleaned and pressed, be sure to store your pieces in a garment bag and hang them somewhere safe where they won’t become crumpled.

Preserve (Or Donate) Your Wedding Flowers

With all of the love, care (and costs!) that went into creating your wedding flowers, it would be a shame for them to go neglected after the day. Create a memorable keepsake by preserving your flowers in a book or frame – or, consider donating them to a local nursing home, hospital or charity as a small act of kindness.

Write Reviews For Vendors

Testimonials and reviews are incredibly valuable for vendors in the wedding industry, so don’t forget to share the love with your hard-working team after the day! Writing reviews on Google and Facebook will not only give your vendors all of the warm fuzzies, but will also help them continue to grow their business. Be sure to personalise your reviews by sharing exactly why you loved working with each vendor.

Sell Your DIY Decor

Your wallet might be looking fairly empty after your wedding day – so why not sell some of those DIY styling details to future brides and grooms? Things like table numbers, vases, lanterns, signage or custom backdrops can all be sold through platforms like eBay or Facebook marketplace. And if you’re not the sentimental type, you might even consider selling your wedding dress through a secondhand platform like Once Wed or Still White.

Settle Outstanding Invoices

We know, it’s not the most exciting task, but you don’t want to be worried about any last-minute invoices while you’re relaxing on your honeymoon! Touch base with your venue and vendors to confirm any outstanding payments, or to fix up the bill for any post-wedding costs like broken glasses or cleaning fees.

Update Your Documentation

As a newly married couple, there might be some practical things you need to update after the day, too. Make a checklist of any personal or legal documentation that will need to be actioned or reviewed, such as changing your surname, address, insurance policies, or even your will.

Organise Your Photo Albums

Your wedding photos are essentially your memories from the day, so why not display them proudly in a custom photo album? Trust us, this will become one of your most treasured possessions, and will probably be passed down in your family for years to come.

You might even want to put together mini albums for your parents or closest loved ones as a special gift. Your photographer will be able to guide you through this process, so be sure to schedule some time after the wedding to chat about the different options.
