Why did you choose to get married at Thorpe Gardens?
The beautiful scenery and choice of separate locations for the dinner and evening party.
What was the most memorable part of your wedding day?
Our church wedding ceremony. It was incredible to have all our friends and family there to witness our day.
As Christians, it was very important that our wedding was centred around God and it was so beautiful to experience His presence while celebrating our love.
Dami, paint us a picture. What was the theme, style, colors, and overall vibe of your wedding day?
The theme of our wedding was rustic modern/ botanicals. The bridesmaids were in a stunning combination of navy blue and sage green. We had a traditional church wedding followed by a sit-down dinner in a unique venue designed by RIBA award-winning architect Seth Stein.
We went into the evening a traditional Nigerian wedding ceremony held in the yurt and ended the night with dancing and a pizza party.
What was your favorite part of planning your wedding?
I absolutely loved organising the decor for the venue. It was a DIY job and everything from selecting the table running fabric to ordering the candles online was an absolute joy for me.
What was the best investment you made for your wedding?
Time! I made my own veil, which took forever, but it was so worth it.
Is there anything you would have done differently?
Yes! I wouldn’t have skipped out on cutting our cake/ doing our first dance in our ceremony clothing just to save 5 minutes.
What was your favorite part of using WedSites for your wedding?
The email function! It was so helpful to be able to check who had/ hadn’t opened our emails. I also loved that we could personalise the template so much, changing the colours and organising pages exactly how we wanted. I was really able to curate the guest’s journey through not only the wedsite but the story of our love.
Wedding planning is notoriously stressful. Now that you’ve gone through the process, do you have any advice or words of wisdom for couples who are currently in the midst of planning theirs?
It doesn’t have to be stressful. A lot of the time, you’re stressed because of the expectations of others. Remember that the day is about you and your love, let that be the centre. Don’t forget to prioritise your relationship over the wedding during the planning process. Go on dates, have set planning days and don’t discuss the wedding outside of them so that you can continue growing in love.
