Where did you get married?

Illawarra Rhododendron Gardens, and City Beach Function Centre in Wollongong

Why did you choose to get married at Illawarra Rhododendron Gardens?

It gave us the best of both worlds with a beautiful garden ceremony and then a beach front location for our reception. Both these venues together were wonderful and showcased the beautiful area to our guests, many who travelled to attend.

What was the most memorable part of your wedding day?

For me, the ceremony was the most memorable moment. I made sure to stop and take in so many moments throughout this part of the day, and I’m so glad I did because the rest of the day was a whirlwind. I remember seeing my friends while I was walking down the aisle with my dad and I could feel how happy they were for me. By my side, my bridesmaids were all teary messes in the best way possible. And my now husband shared the most beautiful vows and surprised me and our guests (and himself, I think!) with the emotion he felt

Hayley, paint us a picture. What was the theme, style, colors, and overall vibe of your wedding day?

I think our overall style and theme ended up being quite traditional. We had our beautiful garden ceremony and cocktail hour which was quite relaxed and then shifted gears to the more formal reception. Our colours were pink based, with the bridesmaids and groomsmen donning matching dresses and ties. The colour pink tied lots of our elements together, from our invites to bouquets, and tablescapes. Lots of our immediate family then coincidentally wore blue which tied the whole thing together beautifully

What was your favorite part of planning your wedding?

My favourite part was brainstorming, looking at Pinterest and Instagram and feeling so inspired. Once the main elements like venue and date were locked in and we got to choose our smaller details I could feel the day coming together.

What was the best investment you made for your wedding

Our photographer. She is very experienced and was able to assist in so many different ways from planning the timeline of the day to where to hold bouquets and how to easily carry my train. She also kept everyone on track and didn’t get caught up in small things that didn’t have a big impact on the day like our misplaced champagne for photos

Is there anything you would have done differently?

Now I’m on the other side, I definitely wouldn’t have spent so much time wondering if I was making the right decision and just trust myself and our vision. Because I wasted time, there were some things I had to not do in the end or compromise because I had left it too late.

What was your favorite part of using WedSites for your wedding?

Being able to collect everyone’s details and RSVPs in one spot that I could refer to for multiple things throughout the process. Having phone numbers, addresses, attendance, and dietary requirements was so easy and I was referring to the list multiple times while planning

Wedding planning is notoriously stressful. Now that you’ve gone through the process, do you have any advice or words of wisdom for couples who are currently in the midst of planning theirs?

The whole process is about you and your partner, don’t spend time thinking about what you ‘should’ do, especially when it’s small details like font choices or tablescapes
