From the eclectic yet artfully coordinated decor featuring rich marigolds, warm berry tones, and dusty pastel accents to the electrifying dance floor, every element reflected the couple’s unique style and love for all things cozy and enchanting.
But the true highlight of the night? As the band played their final song, “Take Me Home, Country Roads,” the dance floor filled with their favorite people belting out every word with unbridled joy. It was a perfect finale to an unforgettable celebration where love, laughter, and music came together in perfect harmony.

The beauty, versatility, and affordability of the Barn was leagues above any other venues we saw in the province
What was the most memorable part of your wedding day?
The most memorable part of our wedding was when the band played “Take me Home Country Roads” as their final song. There were a lot of other great moments, but given that the aim of our reception was to throw a huge dance party there was nothing better than seeing the dance floor full of all of our favourite people joyfully singing along to one of our favourite songs at the end of the night.
Sophie, paint us a picture. What was the theme, style, colors, and overall vibe of your wedding day?
The theme of our wedding was whimsical autumn cottagecore (definitely a bit of a mouthful haha). Although the decor elements were eclectic and purposefully mismatched, I strictly adhered to a scheme of organic fall base colours (marigold, orange, and berry) and dusty pastel highlights (pink, lilac, and sage) to tie everything together.
What was your favorite part of planning your wedding?
My favourite part of planning our wedding was designing the website, signage, and invitations! I studied digital arts in university but fell into a very different career path afterwards, so I rarely get opportunities to do this kind of work. It was so fun to exercise the creative part of my mind again!
What was the best investment you made for your wedding?
A live band and a good photographer!
Is there anything you would have done differently?
We hired a month-of coordinator, but if we’d had the budget I think it would have made a world of difference to hire a full service wedding planner. I can be a bit A-type so didn’t initially think this was something we needed, but in hindsight it would have relieved a ton of stress to have a proven expert guiding vendor communications and timeline.
What was your favorite part of using WedSites for your wedding?
I loved how customizable WedSites was, which is why I chose it for our wedding website! I was also super impressed by the support team – they were always quick to respond if there was a customization that I wasn’t sure how to implement (despite the 19 hour time difference), and they even provided me with the necessary HTML code to help bring my vision to life.

Wedding planning is notoriously stressful. Now that you’ve gone through the process, do you have any advice or words of wisdom for couples who are currently in the midst of planning theirs?
It seems obvious, but throughout the planning process I wish I’d realized that it’s okay to feel stressed. Whenever I was stressed I started spiralling – I’m one of those people who had dreamed of my wedding since I was five, so now that we were planning it shouldn’t it be one of the happiest times in my life? What was I doing wrong? The reality is that while I thrived in certain aspects of wedding planning, I found others unexpectedly difficult. Having so much attention on you throughout your “bridal era” can be anxiety-inducing, and it’s OK to feel that way! Don’t beat yourself up if you don’t love every minute of the process.
