Nadine and Boris’ Wedding at Chateau d’Aveny Normandy, France

Nadine and Boris’ wedding at Chateau d’Aveny in Normandy, France, was a vibrant celebration that beautifully blended romance and personal history. Although they call Australia home, Boris’ roots in Normandy led them to this enchanting chateau, where they hosted their loved ones for a weekend of festivities.

The wedding day itself was a pastel dream, featuring a palette of violet, blue, pink, and lemon yellow. Nadine looked stunning in an ivory gown with a long train and floral lace appliques, while Boris complemented her perfectly in a forest green suit. The chateau’s grand setting provided the perfect backdrop for their love story.

Where did you get married?

Chateau d’Aveny in Normandy, France

Why did you choose to get married at Chateau d’Aveny Normandy?

Whilst we live in Australia, Boris was raised in Normandy so we decided to have our wedding in his home country. The Chateau and grounds were large enough to host most of the guests on-site for the entire weekend.

What was the most memorable part of your wedding day?

The day was sunny and warm. Many guests played sports and explored the extensive gardens of the Chateau whilst the bridal parties got ready. The bride and groom had their own suites on opposite sides of the castle. The bridal party was dressed in a rainbow of pastel colours, and included our son (ring bearer) and daughter (flower girl). The ceremony took place outside in the gardens under the trees with a view of the castle in the background. After the nuptials, the guests were treated to canapes and drinks in front of the castle where group photos and speeches were made under the glow of the sunset. The dinner and party kicked in on inside the salon of the castle with pastel flowers and candles decorating every table. The DJ kicked the party into high gear until 4am, including a surprise Lebanese drums show.

Nadine, paint us a picture. What was the theme, style, colors, and overall vibe of your wedding day?

Pastel, violet, blue, pink, lemon yellow. Ivory wedding dress with a long train and veil with floral lace appliques. The groom was wearing a forest green suit.

What was your favorite part of planning your wedding?

Getting everyone together from all over the world to Normandy. People came from Australia, Germany, Lebanon, France, New Zealand etc.

What was the best investment you made for your wedding?

The venue was the biggest decision we made but was worth every cent. Having people stay on site for three days of celebrations and get to know each other was the highlight.

Is there anything you would have done differently?

I would have probably tried to have more time to enjoy the canapes outside. As the bride and groom, we didn’t get much time to eat!

What was your favorite part of using WedSites for your wedding?

WedSites was extremely helpful! Having a wedding in another country and guests travelling from all over the world meant needing information clearly in one place. The website was fun to create and invaluable to our guests.

Wedding planning is notoriously stressful. Now that you’ve gone through the process, do you have any advice or words of wisdom for couples who are currently in the midst of planning theirs?

I would say think of things in your wedding that represent you as a couple. Music choices and wedding attire will be the things you remember forever. As well as those special vows! When practising your wedding dance, don’t make it complicated – less stress makes it more fun and relaxed.
