Where did you get married?

Worrowing Estate in Jervis Bay

Why did you choose to get married at Worrowing?

Worrowing is set on 250 acres in the heart of Jervis Bay. We absolutely love the South Coast of NSW and Worrowing is just the most stunning location. Although it is in Jervis Bay, the property has a real country feel to it which really resonated with us. There are big beautiful trees, a lake and so many Kangaroos. The accommodation is beautiful and the reception hall is simply stunning. As soon as you step foot onto this property, your breath is simply taken away.

What was the most memorable part of your wedding day?

There are so many memorable parts of the day that it is so hard to break them down into just one. Having our 2-year-old son Humphrey be a part of our big day was truly so special and something that is extremely memorable for us as a family.

Ashleigh, paint us a picture. What was the theme, style, colours, and overall vibe of your wedding day?

The vibe of our wedding day was boho in the country. The colours we chose were white, blush, light pink, rose gold and light blue. My dress was strapless and from Grace Loves Lace. I had a long veil and train and braided hair.

Matt wore an open shirt, light blue suit jacket, tanned coloured chinos and was barefoot for the ceremony!! I had a Man of honour and 2 bridesmaids who were light pink and chose their own outfits. Our celebrant was super extra and he wore white booted heels, electric blue slacks and an electric blue blouse and a head scarf.

He was absolutely amazing. Our son Humphrey was the best man and walked me down the aisle along with my dad. He wore a tanned fedora, light blue suit jacket, white shirt and chinos to match his dad. The florals were light pink and white roses with a lot of dried flowers amongst them.

We had a roof installation in the reception hall which had a combination of dried flowers, roses and materials. It was absolutely beautiful. We got married in front of a wooden arbour that had a beautiful floral installation which was then moved onto a white arbour and placed behind us in the reception hall.

The reception was lit with festoon lighting along the roof and tables with candles in glass and white and pink ceramic candle holders. We used honey pots with hessian lids that came from Matts’s parents’ bee hive with a light pink name tag as bombonieres plus seating places. We had small vases of flowers along the tables as we wanted to keep them minimal as we had share plates for food. We had a beautiful big white bar which also had a floral installation on top.

What was your favourite part of planning your wedding?

My favourite part was going on Pinterest and creating a vision board of what I wanted. I loved researching every part and then ticking them off the list once it was all ordered and organised. I loved dress shopping, I loved finalising the florals with the florist and I loved choosing the food and alcohol.

What was the best investment you made for your wedding?

Food, alcohol, the band and hiring a coordinator!! Having a toddler added so much extra pressure to the day and the planning. It was not as easy as just ducking out to the shops whenever I needed to buy and organise things, so a lot of things were done online.

Having a coordinator absolutely saved the day !! They organised all of our vendors as it was a BYO + DIY venue. They wrote the run sheet. I literally didn’t have to do much at all and it made the day SO much better as I literally had nothing to stress about. I would 100000% recommend a coordinator to those getting married. And a live band – they were great.

Is there anything you would have done differently?

I honestly don’t think I would have done anything differently. I had a lot of confidence in our caterer, bar, band and coordinator and I knew everything would come together on the day. If I had to choose anything – I would have worn different shoes as I didn’t realise you’d see so much of my shoes.

I also would be more specific with my photographer as to what photos I really wanted as I didn’t get a lot of photos with guests as I wish I had.

What was your favourite part of using WedSites for your wedding?

WedSites was absolutely amazing when planning my wedding. It was SO helpful having everything in one place. I like organisation so to have things unorganised or in multiple places would not have been good for me.

I loved that WedSites also incorporated the website we used for our invitations to our guests. I loved that it then collated everyone’s responses and was just SO easy to use, access and navigate. I loved being able to put all of our vendors and prices in one place and it was easy to see what I had paid and what I owed.

Ash and Matt’s custom designed wedding website

Wedding planning is notoriously stressful. Now that you’ve gone through the process, do you have any advice or words of wisdom for couples who are currently in the midst of planning theirs?

To take a deep breath and focus. Put your money, effort and energy into the things that are truly important to YOU and your partner. Don’t listen to what other people have to say unless it’s advice you want to hear.

On the day, all of the little things you stressed about most likely won’t even matter anymore.

Also – if money allows – outsource the problems. The more you can get people to do for you – the better. Don’t put extra stress on yourself for the sake of saving a few dollars. You want to enjoy every minute of your day.

Also, be sure to be specific with your vendors on what you truly want also but also place trust in them – this is their art and they are good at what they do.
