Real Wedding: Cate and Alan

Melbourne newly weds Cate and Alan share their wedding day highlights from their beautiful wedding at the Lake House in Daylesford. The couple tied the knot at an outdoor ceremony by the lake surrounded by family and friends.

What was the most memorable part of your wedding day?

I think the whole day was memorable and I don’t think I could pick my favourite part but hearing Alan’s vows for the first time was lovely.

Cate, paint us a picture. What was the theme, style, colors, and overall vibe of your wedding day?

We had the ceremony by a lake and it was minimal but with flowers and natives. We went with whites and pinks and had a relaxed vibe about the day. We had the reception in a the Terrace room at the Lake House with foliage with the same flowers hanging from the roof and round tables with flowers and candelabras.

What was your favorite part of planning your wedding?

Organising everything and getting to choose what we wanted to have at our wedding.

What was the best investment you made for your wedding?

Spent money on a venue that had a wedding consultant and made everything run smoothly on the day.

Is there anything you would have done differently?

Probably get a videographer as we tried to zoom overseas people and get friends to record but just not as good as a professional. Sometimes it is worth it.

What was your favorite part of using WedSites for your wedding?

Loved that it was easy to use, had everything that I needed for RSVPing and to ask questions and when all the information was retrieved I could transfer it in to an excel spreadsheet which made organising everything so much easier.

Wedding planning is notoriously stressful. Now that you’ve gone through the process, do you have any advice or words of wisdom for couples who are currently in the midst of planning theirs?

Take a week off before the wedding as there are a lot of small things that need to be done before and they can get stressful. Also good to have that time off if you are going on a honeymoon straight after.
