Sustainability

This year, we’ve seen a huge surge in the eco-friendly movement, with more and more people being mindful of their environmental footprint. We’re expecting to see this flow over into wedding celebrations too, with couples being more conscious about sustainability as they plan their big day.

From using biodegradable materials to sourcing produce locally and going paperless with digital invitations, there are so many great ways to plan a more eco-friendly wedding. You can read our top tips for planning a “green” wedding right here!

Bold colours

A quick scroll through our Insta feeds and it’s clear to see bold colours are making a comeback! We’ve seen lots of soft pastel tones this year, but it looks like 2019 will be all about rich pops of colour, including jewel tones like emerald green, amber, mauve and navy blue. Expect to see these rich tones throughout elements like bridesmaid gowns, floral arrangements, decor and linens.

Tents and tipis

With more and more couples opting to DIY their day, we’re seeing lots of weddings taking place at private properties or wide open spaces amongst the great outdoors. Our prediction? We’ll see less of the standard white marquee for these kinds of DIY celebrations, and more creative structures like tipis, tents and pavilions. Perfect for a fun, festival-style wedding!

Destination weddings

These days, it’s all about the experience of the wedding and creating lifelong memories with loved ones. Next year, we reckon more couples will choose to buck tradition and invite their closest crew to a destination wedding for a holiday to remember! From tropical Bali receptions to stunning ceremonies overlooking the Greek islands, we’re totally here for this trend (and eagerly awaiting our invitations!). Statement one-off pieces

Speaking of bucking tradition, we’re also expecting to see more couples move away from formal decorations and instead inject some fun and personality into their day with one-off pieces. Think: bold neon signs with quirky quotes, oversized balloon installations, creative seating charts and colourful photo backdrops. Personal details don’t have to be expensive, either – there are plenty of styling ideas you can DIY before the day!

Cocktail stations

Forget about the standard wine list – in 2019, we’ll see cocktails make a comeback with signature drinks and interactive stations to personalise the beverage experience. From pop-up caravans to frosé bars, we’re expecting a bigger focus on stunning (and delicious!) drinks to kick off the festivities.

Extended celebrations

Instead of just mingling with guests on your wedding day itself, we think 2019 will be about couples extending their celebrations with additional activities both before and after the nuptials. We love the idea of creating a full weekend of festivities to keep the party going, with pre-wedding dinners and post-wedding recovery sessions to enjoy more time with your loved ones (especially those who might be travelling!).

It’s safe to say 2019 is shaping up to be a pretty amazing year of fun-filled, personal celebrations.
