Jayden and Jay’s wedding at The Barn at Wind’s Edge in Saskatoon, SK, beautifully combined rustic charm with romantic elegance. With its modern barn setting, bridal loft, and groom’s suite, the venue made their day feel both personal and magical.
They envisioned a relaxed celebration surrounded by family and friends, with sage green dresses, navy suits, and neutral florals setting the tone. Personal touches like an audio guestbook, photo booth, and their dog-inspired “Bumbo Bar” made the day uniquely theirs. From mason jar drinks to eucalyptus-filled flower pillars, every detail tied together their modern rustic theme perfectly.
Where did you get married?
We got married at the Barn at Winds Edge in Saskatoon, SK. It was such a beautiful venue to host our special day. Before you even step foot in the doors, you are surrounded by the natural beauty of flowers and rustic vibes. The chandeliers in the reception area are show stoppers that just make it classy.
Why did you choose to get married at The Barn at Winds Edge?
We wanted our wedding to be as rustic as it could but with a romantic feel to it. The first time I saw the Barn, I knew it was the place. It is so crisp, rustic but very modern. The bridal loft and grooms suite were a bonus and it made getting ready so fun to have rooms catered to us. There was something special about knowing we each were getting ready for our day, yet separated by the staircase that made it fun and made the anticipation of our first look more magical.
The staff was unreal at making us feel like we were king and queen for the day. I had heard that the meal was very good but I can’t even explain how unbelievable the food was. Chef Michael Beaule created a unique meal that everyone raved about. Many people commented how amazing the food was!
What was the most memorable part of your wedding day?
Our first dance. The reflection of the disco ball and the lights shining off of it while me and my husband were just together in the moment is always going to be my favourite memory. Having all our family and friends there with us just made it so special. The whole day seeing everyone having fun, getting pictures at the photobooth and dancing was also a highlight.
Jayden, paint us a picture. What was the theme, style, colors, and overall vibe of your wedding day?
Having a relaxed, romantic celebration with our friends and family was the main goal. Sage green dresses and navy suits with neutral coloured flowers made everything come together. We wanted lots of personal touches throughout the day and having an audio guest book, photobooth and the Bumbo bar (our dog) with specialty drinks was so fun.
After the ceremony we had a drink station with mason jar mugs and paper straws added to the overall feel. The flower pillars and arch design were neutral colours with pops of eucalyptus and I loved every added arrangement that we had around the Barn. It tied everything together to have a relaxed modern rustic theme.
What was your favorite part of planning your wedding?
Adding all the extras was what I enjoyed the most. The photobooth, audioguestbook, personalized bar, and all the signage. We also had wine bottles on the table that the guests wrote on and we will open on special occasions, and it will be fun to read what they wrote years down the road. I felt all these things were a way to get the guests involved in our day and creating memories.
The drink station with the mason jars on a ladder added lots of conversation and got the guests mingling. All of these things were things I wanted to spend time organizing so that our day would be special to our guests and us.
What was the best investment you made for your wedding?
Aside from the venue, hiring a day of wedding coordinator. Lynnell was there for everything on our day and at the rehearsal. It took the stress of all the little things that had to be done the day of, off my (and my moms) plate. I knew the details were all organized and what I wanted for the day was planned, but to execute it all was going to be an undertaking, and she pulled through in every way.
I also think investing in asking reliable friends who I knew would be there to help who were not in the wedding party was a big thing. I couldn’t have done it without the help of Lynnell and my friends. Getting a videographer was a very good investment, if it’s in your budget. The memories Megan captured are going to be something we look back on for years to come.
Is there anything you would have done differently?
Overall I don’t think we would have done much differently! Other than minor details, like giving a bit more time for hair and makeup(but we already started at 8am and the wedding wasn’t until 4:30!), or given ourselves a bit more time for down time between program and the first dance, everything was perfect.
I am very glad we would take little spurts of time just the two of us, to take a breather and just be in the moment together, away from the guests and wedding party. Maybe if I could, I would have had more time just for us, but we wanted to see everyone, so not sure how we would do that.
What was your favorite part of using WedSites for your wedding?
Using WedSite made the planning stage a dream. From creating our guest list, and budget/vendor list to sending our wedding invitations, everything was so easy.
Any time I had questions about how to do something on the site, I would get a response very quickly and explained things easily. It was fun creating the webpage and I would highly recommend using the site.

Wedding planning is notoriously stressful. Now that you’ve gone through the process, do you have any advice or words of wisdom for couples who are currently in the midst of planning theirs?
Enjoy every stage. The planning stage is a lot, but if you are not having fun, then maybe back off on the small details. Or find someone who enjoys it and delegate certain jobs! I think we all have a vision of what we want, but when it comes down to it, your guests don’t care about much other than seeing you get married and want to celebrate with you!
On the day of the wedding, enjoy EVERYTHING! It goes so fast, and then it’s done. Make sure to schedule a few moments where it is just the two of you. Breathe and regroup, and get back out to your guests and soak every minute of it in. Don’t worry if something you planned didn’t get set out, or is missing; no one will notice.
Get your friends to take lots of candid pictures! Spend a moment with your parents sometime in the day. And TRY to get a good amount of sleep the week before, as much as you can, because it’s a BIG day and adrenaline can only do so much!
