Natasha and Nando, two souls originally hailing from the vibrant city that never sleeps, embarked on a journey that led them to the heartwarming union of their lives.

Their wedding, set against the stunning backdrop of the New York City skyline at Vista Penthouse, was a reflection of their journey, a celebration of their shared past, and a promise of a future filled with love.

Their story reminds us that sometimes, the most unexpected detours lead to the most beautiful destinations, and love shines brightest in the midst of life’s surprises.

Where did you get married?

Vista Penthouse – Long Island City, NY

Why did you choose to get married at Vista Penthouse?

We are both from NY originally but now live in Florida. We wanted to pick a location that felt like home that had the view of the New York City skyline.

What was the most memorable part of your wedding day?

The venue was breathtaking along with the decorations. My wedding planner “killed it”. We had a black and white theme with plans to get married on the rooftop. It rained so we were married in our reception space BUT it was still perfect. Everything was black and white with white flowers. My wedding planner had a lot of custom details that made my day extra special. The signage and seating area were my favorites. They were couches brought in that made it feel like a hang out space. Absolutely beautiful – we received so many compliments.

Natasha, paint us a picture. What was the theme, style, colors, and overall vibe of your wedding day?

The theme was modern. Our colors were black and white. We had everyone’s names in acrylic on their place settings. We rented gloss black chargers, wine glasses, champagne flutes, and cutlery to give it the black and white look. The florist painted the greenery on the flowers black to give it a smokey look. Our planner had custom pills with our initials and a neon sign at our table that really stood out.

What was your favorite part of planning your wedding?

We made our wedding a weekend event. Incorporating everyone’s ideas and having a modern website that matched our theme was key. Guests were able to do everything online and now that the wedding is over, we sent a link for guests to be able to upload photos from the weekend.

What was the best investment you made for your wedding?

Planning is everything. An online organizer, a wedding planner, and day of coordinator are musts. I had 55 guests and didn’t think that I needed all of the help but the key to staying calm is staying organized. Find a planner that is tech savvy and can use the same tools.

Is there anything you would have done differently?

I would have tried the appetizers. The day was flying by, and I was so nervous. The guests raved about them but we didn’t even try one.

What was your favorite part of using WedSites for your wedding?

Everything was in one place. I didn’t have a big planner to carry around like I normally do. I could log on from home, work, while in New York – from any computer.

Wedding planning is notoriously stressful. Now that you’ve gone through the process, do you have any advice or words of wisdom for couples who are currently in the midst of planning theirs?

Sometimes we worry about the little details but focus on the bigger things. It should be a good time. If you like to dance invest in a good DJ or band. Food and drinks are another big investment that are worth it. No one is going to remember what kind of chairs and favors you had. Focus on the big stuff and if you have time for the little stuff great – otherwise move on.
