Allison and Evan’s wedding was a mix of romance and luxury in the elegant and breathtaking Ryland Inn. The couple’s special day is full of subtle and beautiful details.

We’re sure you’d want to know more about the incredible details. So, we rounded up a few stand-out moments from their photographer, Myra Roman Photography!

Where did you get married?

The Ryland Inn in Whitehouse Station, New Jersey

Why did you choose to get married at The Ryland Inn?

It was a beautiful mix of estate and rustic vibes. Elegant, but grounded.

What was the most memorable part of your wedding day?

Marrying my best friend, but also how perfectly all my work and details came together to a day I hoped for. Evan was incredibly supportive of all my choices and weighed in on some of our favorite parts, such as flowers. I loved picking the colors, the flowers, the decor, and hand-designing all my signage.

Allison, paint us a picture. What was the theme, style, colors, and overall vibe of your wedding day?

My husband and I got engaged in Newport, RI and we both love the decor and beauty of the Newport Mansions. We both wanted a venue and general vibe of the elegance and grandeur of the Gilded Era mansions, but still grounded with a more personal flair. As it came together, the overall style appeared to be Newport Mansion floral garden party. We wanted delicious and unique food, live music, and decoration details that would leave everyone impressed, but recognizing our distinct personalities as a couple.

What was your favorite part of planning your wedding?

Working with my florist, Lori, who executed my colors and dream perfectly. We joked over a shared love of the movie Steel Magnolias and my desire for shades of pink flowers. Evan and I loved working with all of our vendors who helped to make our day special. From the support of our wedding planner, Kim, the attention to detail of our photographer, Myra, to the flexibility of our venue coordinator, Sam – we had an incredible team.

What was the best investment you made for your wedding?

We splurged on a live band and they were worth every penny. They brought an incredible energy to the night and the dance floor was never fully empty.

Is there anything you would have done differently?

Not stress so much. Easier said than done, but I got pretty obsessed with trying to make everything as perfect as possible – at the expense of my own sanity and happiness.

What was your favorite part of using WedSites for your wedding?

I loved the RSVP feature for it’s eco friendly option. Our save the dates and invites were made with recyclable, seeded paper that if you plant will grow wildflowers. It was important to me to not add a bigger footprint than absolutely necessary and as an added bonus, our family and friends were able to leave personal messages and wedding advice for us as the RSVP’d yes or no.

Wedding planning is notoriously stressful. Now that you’ve gone through the process, do you have any advice or words of wisdom for couples who are currently in the midst of planning theirs?

Hire a wedding planner and day of coordinator to make sure the day runs smoothly and according to your vision. They can help plan our your day of timeline, ensures all the vendors arrive and setup on time and facilitate that the schedule doesn’t get too cramped or overwhelming. For the amount spent on some planning packages, the attention to every little detail takes a lot of the stress away from the actual day of.

My planners helped in making sure that decorations look as planned, wrangled all those complicated family “must have” photos, and distributed tips and final payments at the end of the night. I was able to be in the moment because of my wedding planners, Kim and Carla, and I appreciate their added care and unwavering defense of my husband and my happiness on the day of – acting as bouncer, hype women, point person, and confidante the whole day long.
