Where did you get married?
We got married at White Barn Pokolbin, located in the heart of the Hunter Valley. It’s a gorgeous venue that perfectly encapsulated the rustic, countryside feel we were looking for. With stunning views of the surrounding vineyards and a cozy, inviting atmosphere, it provided the perfect backdrop for our special day.
Why did you choose to get married at White Barn Pokolbin?
The White Barn ticked all of our boxes. We wanted a wedding that felt relaxed, intimate, and in tune with nature, and The White Barn offered just that. The setting was ideal for the country wedding we envisioned—surrounded by wide open spaces, rolling hills, and the beauty of the Hunter Valley. The flexibility of the venue allowed us to personalize the day exactly how we wanted, and the team there made everything so easy for us. We fell in love with the venue immediately and knew it was the right fit.
What was the most memorable part of your wedding day?
It’s hard to pinpoint just one moment because the entire day was filled with incredible memories. However, celebrating our 8-year anniversary and committing to each other in front of our closest family and friends was truly unforgettable. A particularly special moment was when Alana surprised Danny with a visit from their favourite singer Hayley Jensen, who performed our first dance song, “Fireworks.” It was such an emotional and personal touch that really made the day even more magical. There wasn’t one specific part that stood out above the rest, but rather the feeling of love, support, and celebration that carried throughout the entire day. From exchanging vows to the dance floor at the reception, every moment felt magical in its own way.
Danny, paint us a picture. What was the theme, style, colors, and overall vibe of your wedding day?
The theme was rustic with a touch of handmade charm, and we embraced the beauty of autumn colors. We went with earthy tones like deep reds and oranges to reflect the season, paired with soft neutrals and greens to bring everything together. The style was laid-back and organic, with lots of wooden accents and handcrafted decor. We wanted a warm and inviting atmosphere where everyone could feel comfortable and relaxed. The vibe was definitely one of joy and togetherness, with a focus on natural beauty and simple elegance.
What was your favorite part of planning your wedding?
Honestly, using WedSites was a game-changer for us. It made the entire planning process so much easier and less stressful. Everything being digital meant we could keep track of RSVPs, communicate with our guests, and manage our schedule all in one place. The convenience of having everything organized in a central location allowed us to focus on the fun aspects of planning rather than getting bogged down by logistics.
What was the best investment you made for your wedding?
WedSites was definitely one of the best investments we made. It helped us streamline the planning process, saving us time, money, and stress. Another amazing investment was the 360° camera we used during the reception. We passed it around to guests, and it captured so many raw, candid moments that we wouldn’t have otherwise seen. Those real, unfiltered memories are some of our favorite keepsakes from the day.
Is there anything you would have done differently?
Honestly, no. Everything about the day turned out exactly how we wanted it to. From the venue to the decor to the overall flow of the day, it was all perfect. There’s nothing we would change—it was a true reflection of us and the journey we’ve been on together.
What was your favorite part of using WedSites for your wedding?
The communication features were a huge highlight. WedSites made it so easy to stay in touch with all our guests and keep them updated on important details. The website-building tool was another favorite. We loved being able to create a personalized space to house all the information about our wedding in one place—everything from directions to the venue, to accommodation options, and even an FAQ section for our guests. It simplified so much for us and our guests.

Wedding planning is notoriously stressful. Now that you’ve gone through the process, do you have any advice or words of wisdom for couples who are currently in the midst of planning theirs?
Our advice is simple: don’t sweat the small stuff. It’s easy to get caught up in minor details, but the truth is, most guests won’t even notice them. Focus on what really matters—your love for each other and the joy of sharing that with your loved ones. At the end of the day, it’s your celebration, so make decisions based on what makes you happy. Don’t feel pressured to meet everyone else’s expectations. Also, trust your vendors and give yourself space to enjoy the process, rather than stressing over every little thing.
