Hayley and Jimmy’s Botanic Garden wedding in Adelaide was a total dream. A day filled with love and laughter. It may just be one of the prettiest days ever!
Not only was there the most gorgeous ‘fruity formal’ style, but the outdoor ceremony drenched in sunlight was ever so beautiful, too.
Where did you get married?
Adelaide Botanic Gardens (ceremony) & Summertown Studios (reception)
Why did you choose to get married at the Adelaide Botanic Gardens?
We wanted a location that had greenery for the ceremony. And for the reception, we wanted a cocktail style with food trucks, where we could have a stage and a rotating band. Summertown Studio was perfect and had a more rustic-boho vibe.
What was the most memorable part of your wedding day?
The most memorable part of my wedding day was walking down the aisle and seeing all my family and friends gathered together, in bright colours, huge smiles, there to celebrate our marriage. I’l never forget the gratitude and love I felt in that moment.
Hayley, paint us a picture. What was the theme, style, colors, and overall vibe of your wedding day?
Our wedding was themed ‘fruity formal’. We wanted a fun, colourful, vibrant, joyful, casual, vibe. And we absolutely got it. We had pink pant-suits, colourful cravats, fruity shirts. It was a celebration of love and fun.
What was your favorite part of planning your wedding?
Planning the wedding was stressful at times, but my favourite part was imaging all the people we would be able to invite to come and celebrate this day with us.
Sending invitations, and receiving RSVP’s made us feel really special and excited!
What was the best investment you made for your wedding?
Engaging WedSites was one of the smartest things we did for the wedding. Being able to coordinate RSVPs online, and have a central wedding website for all information, meant we didn’t have individuals contacting us asking questions, because they could find all the information in one spot. And they couldn’t lose their invitation because it was in their email and on the website.
Other great investments were in the band and the photographer!
Is there anything you would have done differently?
I would not have done anything differently. We nailed it!
What was your favorite part of using WedSites for your wedding?
My favourite part of using websites was the RSVP function. It’s essential! Being able to collate everyone’s RSVPs electronically was a game-changer. It saved us from having to create Excel files ourselves and keep trying to track changes people make to their RSVP. It also allowed us to contact people easily who had RSVP’ed to update them on changes to the wedding.
Wedding planning is notoriously stressful. Now that you’ve gone through the process, do you have any advice or words of wisdom for couples who are currently in the midst of planning theirs?
Figure out what your shared values are, and stick to those. Don’t let yourself get influenced by Pinterest, Instagram, or your friends or family. Everyone who comes to your wedding is going to be excited for your relationship, and the wedding is a reflection of you. So if that is different to other people – that’s okay, because you and your relationship are probably different to other people too. You will have a brilliant day no matter what, so make sure you focus on what you want, and don’t break the budget to achieve what you think your guests want or expect, (because they probably won’t care anyway).
