Where did you get married?

Barn & Co. on the Mornington Peninsula in Victoria, Australia.

Why did you choose to get married at Barn & Co?

Barn & Co felt right as soon as we arrived for our first visit. The atmosphere and decor were lovely. It matched our vision of the venue for our wedding. The team at Barn & Co have a lot of experience with weddings and was extremely helpful and supportive.

What was the most memorable part of your wedding day?

Friends told us that the groom seeing the bride for the first time as she walks down the aisle is a moment you will never forget. However, we chose to do ‘first look’ photography earlier in the day due to the wedding schedule and the availability of light for photography following the ceremony.

Our first look was a beautiful and emotional moment. We both waited a long time for our wedding day to arrive. Amy looked incredibly beautiful in her wedding gown.

At our ceremony, seeing Amy walk down the aisle is still a magical moment I will never forget. The photography from our first look and following our ceremony is beautiful.

Ian, paint us a picture. What was the theme, style, colours, and overall vibe of your wedding day?

Our theme was fun and relaxed and that is how our wedding turned out. It was also stylish and elegant with a colour palette that included greens, pinks and purples. The use of foliage and fairy lights to decorate the reception made it warm and inviting.

We received a lot of compliments for the choices we made. We loved the use of native wildflowers and succulents in our bouquets and floral arrangements.

What was your favourite part of planning your wedding?

Tasting the cake samples?

Amy and I worked well together as a team to create the wedding we wanted. This was a good indication of the marriage ahead.

We enjoyed meeting different suppliers and getting to know the suppliers we chose to work with. We made some really excellent choices.

What was the best investment you made for your wedding?

The day flew by so quickly and I’m glad we invested in our photographer. He was brilliant on the day – really calm, easy to work with and captured all the right moments and details.

Is there anything you would have done differently?

Our wedding was perfect – there is nothing I would change.

What was your favourite part of using WedSites for your wedding?

Using WedSites to manage our RSVPs, guest list and details like dietary requirements were great. It was so easy to communicate with our guests.

It is also great to have a central source of information about our wedding, and all the details, that were really simple to update and share.

Wedding planning is notoriously stressful. Now that you’ve gone through the process, do you have any advice or words of wisdom for couples who are currently in the midst of planning theirs?

A friend’s advice was that the day won’t be 100% perfect, no matter how meticulously you plan. I have held onto this philosophy and try not to let the things that weren’t perfect diminish my experience of our beautiful and magical wedding.
