Where did you get married?

Cleveland Estate in Lancefield, Victoria

Why did you choose to get married at Cleveland Estate?

We saw them advertised at the wedding expo. The wedding coordinator was amazing when we met. We loved the style and look of the venue and the menu was delicious too. Not to mention it was really well priced and located closed to home for us.

What was the most memorable part of your wedding day?

There was so many incredibly memorable moments.  Having our celebrant announce that our kitty sends his love even though he couldn’t make it to the wedding, was so funny and sweet. Rob and I also had a fully choreographed first dance, which was also our entrance. We used “run to paradise” Rob entered first, then on “Jenny! I’ll meet you at the grocery store” I appeared from the stairwell to a huge round of applause. It was so funny and unique to us.

Jenny, paint us a picture. What was the theme, style, colors, and overall vibe of your wedding day?

Vineyard chic. Our colour story was mauve, deep purples and greens. We used succulents for our flowers and terrariums for our centrepieces. Our vibe was laid back, naturals and fun. Mine and my bridesmaid dresses were floaty, fairyesque haha.

What was your favorite part of planning your wedding?

I loved every second of it. Rob and I decided right from the start that we would do everything together and we would enjoy every part of the lead up. We had fun playing with colours and styles, flavours and outfits, games and designs. It was important to me that we enjoyed the Whole process.

What was the best investment you made for your wedding?

Spend the money on what’s important to you. For us, that was photography and videography and the food. We spent little to no money on styling or decorations, we didn’t have fancy cars to arrive, my dress was second hand, and we spent extra money on having multiple photographers and a photo booth to capture our friends and family. We look at the photos so often, they just bring the memories to life. We adore them.

Is there anything you would have done differently?

Have a longer time. We finished up at 11pm, wish we had extended it out just a little, to give us a tad more time to hang out with our loved ones. We wouldn’t change anything else.

What was your favorite part of using WedSites for your wedding?

Ah Wedsites was a god send. What a great way to capture our guests info and keep track of everything in one place. The wedding website was a hit with the guests who enjoyed all the info, and being able to find it whenever they needed it. It was easy to use and the team behind wedsites are so helpful, just what a stressed bride to be needs.

Jennifer and Robert’s customed designed wedding website

Wedding planning is notoriously stressful. Now that you’ve gone through the process, do you have any advice or words of wisdom for couples who are currently in the midst of planning theirs

Don’t stress haha. Remember your why. Rob and I agreed from day one that as long as we were both there, nothing else mattered. So we chose fun, light-hearted, us. We only invited people we love and who love us, who we see regularly and know would have a fun time with us. We chose to play games and do silly vows and dances because that’s who we are. We stayed true to ourselves and didn’t sweat the small stuff. If it was a priority, we made sure we did the research and paid the big bucks for it, if it wasn’t important to us, we either got rid of it all together or spent little time or money on it.
Spend as much time together as you can. We stayed together the night before and woke up together for a couples-only breakfast. We did a first look before the ceremony so we could enjoy each other’s reactions and also stole away for time together after the ceremony and before the reception. It was so worth it.
